France in Bangladesh…sounds so unreal, right?
As a matter of fact, it isn’t that hard. If you have an interest in French or wish to laze around in an environment “française”, Alliance Française de Dhaka is the place you are looking for.
I am not advertising for AFD, but honestly, the place is really beautiful. Right beside the library, there is the café – a meeting point of all sorts of people who has their passion in music or art or French. Both the galleries in there are always booked with different exhibitions, so students and members are free to check them out and step into the world of art with many others.
However, my favourite place would be the terrace, where the wide branches of the ancient tress shelter the people sitting on the terrace. You can just sit there and observe the people, the hustle and bustle that might be going around you, or even stare at the busy road. But let me warn you if you have issues with smoking, you better stay away from that zone, because that is the part of AFD where you will find most smokers puffing away into their cigarettes.
AFD provides a number of courses of French, Music, Photography, Dance, and lately, there is a workshop staring on Astronomy. AFD is never asleep- you can always find in active throughout the year. So, just go to Alliance Française de Dhaka and check the billboards or contact the front office for the latest info!
And yes, there are three branches of AFD, so take your pick!
